About the project

Commissioned to translate a viral pop-up phenomenon into a permanent flagship destination, this project redefines the bakery typology. Designed for Fati's at U Venues, New Cairo, the space transforms the daily rhythm of baking into a live, immersive performance. It moves beyond conventional retail to create an environment where architecture becomes an active participant in brand storytelling.

The Donut Theatre
For instance, at the heart of our design strategy lies the Donut Theatre. It's a continuous, open-loop configuration that places the baking process on full display. Rather than isolating the kitchen behind closed walls, we choreographed an intuitive customer flow. This guides visitors from arrival to ordering, viewing, and departure. This theatrical approach makes the act of buying a doughnut feel like participation in a shared ritual, where the energy of fresh production fuels the entire space.

Fabric Skies
In contrast, counterbalancing the vibrant energy below, the ceiling treatment introduces a textile-like lightness we call Fabric Skies. This ethereal overhead environment tempers the boldness of the interior. It creates a sense of shelter and intimacy while maintaining an airy, open atmosphere. The interplay between grounded, playful forms and floating softness anchors the visitor experience. It balances the brand's vibrant identity with moments of visual calm.

Materiality & Atmosphere
Furthermore, our material palette is intentionally bold yet soft. We utilized glossy pink curved counters to echo Fati's signature brand aesthetic. It's a warm, recognizable hue that the brand has cultivated as its visual DNA. Translucent glass blocks blur the boundary between front-of-house and backstage. They offer intriguing glimpses of the bakers at work without fully exposing the working kitchen. Custom lighting, tactile surfaces, and reflective details are carefully calibrated to enhance flow, visibility, and emotional resonance. The result is a space that feels welcoming, expressive, and unmistakably Fati's.
